의성어 and sounds used to express emotions I've been looking up words, reading books and comics, watching dramas, listening to music, and talking to friends living in Korea (as well as childhood friends) to improve my Korean. I noticed not many websites have information on onomatopoeia, and if they do, I find mostly animal sounds. I've learned some onomatopoeia through comics, but I still have a hard time translating it back in English. If you can, please translate the sound into its English equivalent, describe it for me, or if you could do both, it'd be extremely helpful. Thank you! 타아앙! 철퍼억 헹 투덜 투덜 흥 꾸욱 반짝 - Would there be a sound for this or since it means something like "sparkle" or "twinkle", should I think of 반짝 like that? 생긋 - Would this be like a grin? 생긋 웃다 is like smiling sweetly, right? 응 달깍 쨍 바스락 스윽 뎁썩 우왁 앗 - Does this only mean "oops" or could it mean something like "ack" 쳇 지잉 후후 째릿 따악 ㅐㅡㅜ웅 <- I don't know what this is O__O; Is this something like gibberish (ex: asdfghjkl)? 자가자 탁 히이이익 촤르르르르 흐음 덜덜 바들바들 톡톡 피융 헐둥 지둥 쿡쿡 투다다뒥 When people say "여", is this the "yo" as in "hey" in English? 쓔우웅 우뚝 타다닥 다다다다다 큭 쉬익 토옹 대롱 (there was a long line/stretch mark between 대 and 롱 in the comic I read) 버둥버둥 풉 살짝 달깍 에 활짝 똑똑 핫 저벅 번뜩 쨔안!! 짝짝짝 I know I listed an awful lot, and if you're not sure what they all are, please reply with the ones you do know. I'd be really grateful! ^^
