I think it requires full-on, no-doubts, no-mind-changing commitment and, yes, love, but not the way "love" can be typically portrayed. Loving someone is an action, not just an emotion. I may not like my husband all that much, feel angry or disappointed at him sometimes, but I can still choose to do my best to love him. Plus, of course, a certain amount of compatibility definitely goes a long way- not only in the sense of doing/enjoying the same things, but also in the way that one person's character strengths and weaknesses can complement the other's. That's my take. (:

I totally agree with Jessica in terms of what love is from both emotion and action.Even though I disappoint at my wife all the time, i would still love my wife. I might say that maybe no one could tell what marriage is, unless, you are dyeing now and you see it as the result of your life. I also noticed that marriage exist everywhere regardless of the religion or culture. This illustrates that there would be no solid global idea of marriage yet, since a lot of people acknowledge marriage as a part of their religious activity, and, on the other hand, some people get married without knowing what religion is. If you could feel that you had one new step into your real future by getting married, I would say that that is your marriage.

These sorts of questions should be put in the "Discussions" section. The "Answers" section is for specific language and culture-related questions, not for opinions.
