When do you use formal language in Korean?
In which occasion do I have to use formal language?
When do I use the most formal language, when the normal language and to who can i use informal language? How do I adress a stranger (e.g. asking for directions, taxi diriver, shop assistant, waiter) ? Which form do I use if I am not sure whether the person is older or younger? What do I use in the internet? Do the same rules apply?

just a basic rule, if there are important exceptions, can you mention them as well?

Because in German we have only a polite way to address people and a impolite one. Since I've just become a adult by law, I'm not used to people talking in a polite language to me, but for me it's natural to adress older people formally. 
But it's new to me that there are different levels of politeness. :) And even if i will be forgiven I still want to show that I care :)

We cannot always share the same interests of course, but to my opinion the politeness levels are the most annoying and almost humiliating things in the language. Why do you show this curiosity in it? Most Koreans of the younger generation would say that it does not matter, since as a foreigner you are forgiven not to speak perfect Korean anyway.
