Well, I have never taken classes here, but I teach and what a teacher can do that (usually) very few native speakers can, is explaining grammatical rules and the structures to be used in the language. So for example, in case you want to know why we say in Spanish "el agua", using "el" which is a masculine article, but "agua" is a femenine noun. Usually, native speakers will know it is wrong to say "la agua", but they will say "we say it that way" if ask why, you will get a "I don't know" or in some cases they will give you any plausible explanation they can come up with, rarely the correct one. A teacher will tell you that there is a rule for articles, if a noun starts in "a" and the "a" has the stress in that word, the article has to change to avoid the sound of double "a". That is why we say "el águila", even though "águila" is femenine. (Now that only happens in singular, in plural you go back with the feminine "las aguas", "las águilas"). But if the stress is other vowel that is not the initial "a" then the article will not change, "la atalaya", in this word the stress is on the third "a" (from left to right). So, whereas it is very beneficial and useful to talk to native speaks, understanding the language is much easier if you have teacher. I hope this helps.

Estoy de acuerdo con Mario. Me gusta usar los maestros en italki.. Obviamente, tienes que pagarlos. Pero para mí las ventajas son 1) Puedo fijar una clase a la hora que estoy libre. 2) Normalmente , ellos están a tiempo. 3) No hay estructura formal a menos que quiera. 4) Puedo hablar en español toda la lección . 5) Muchos me dan una clase de prueba gratis.6) Puedo cambiar maestros facilmente. Me encanta leer tus entradas. Escribes español como un hispanohablante y me imagino que hablas así también.Entonces, puedes crear tu proprio lección y pides la profesora lo que quieres. Depends of the teacher and friend in Italki. I try for teach grammar and common sense. I think the difference is about commitment and agreement. In spanish we have a "saying": "el que tiene más saliva traga más pinole", the meaning is: your depends of your knowledes, skills and experience. One thing, for helping foreigns speakers, I needed to know more about my own language. Only one time, I have a mistake, I was confused in my mind... And after, I have care about. Depende del maestro o amigo en Italki. Yo trato de enseñar gramática y sentido común. pienso que la diferencia es el acuerdo y el compromiso. Tenemos un dicho en español: el que tiene más saliva traga más pinole, su significado es:( jejeje it) esto depende de tus conocimientos habilidades y experiencia. Una cosa, para ayudar a hablantes extranjeros, necesite saber más acerca de mi propia lengua. sólo una vez, tuve un error, estaba confundida en mmi mente. Después (jejejeje of this) de eso tengo cuidado al ayudar.
