I believe if you said it to your Chinese friends, they would be confused and not know what you were talking about. Thirdly, 潮 is kind of slang. When you wear a specific article of clothing or own something that somehow stands out and attract attention and show other people the type of person you are. we would say 你很潮啊! However people often say it in a sarcastic way in daily speech. Precisely speaking 潮 is a very new trend in fashion that has not yet caught on. i think it would be more appropriate to be called a "fashion statement" In this context, "追求快乐就是一种潮牌" means "pursuing happiness is just a fashion statement".
