About this German sentence order. Thanks.
Ich hoffe nur, wenigstens das klappt.
My question is, since there's no "dass", the clause should be in "declarative sentence order", means the verb should be in the second position.
So this sentence should be:
Ich hoffe nur, das klappt wenigstens.
Considering the speaker wanna emphasize her mood, it could be:
Ich hoffe nur, wenigstens klappt das.
But why the verb is placed in the third position?
In fact, I do feel confused about German sentence order. There're lots of orders here, but except the "time must be in front of place", lots of exceptions exist!

Actually, the verb is on the second position, because 'wenigstens' belongs to 'das': at least that (will work). So all good about the sentence structure, it is kept here.

Spoken languages ain't math. There is not really much logic in any spoken language.
