Future Tense
I wonder if there are some differences between the following sentences.
(1) I will go to school on Monday. VS I am going to go to school on Monday.
(Situation:You are at a party and your friend ask what you will do on Monday)
(2) I will get some apples. VS I am going to get some apples.
(Situation:You are at Cafeteria)
(3) I will go to the bathroom. VS I am going to go to the bathroom.
(Situation:You just feel like to going to the bathroom.)

This is a frequent question, and it has been answered well by several. Basically, the small difference lies in the definitive statement using "will". In other words, it definitely is in the future. On the other hand, "to be going to" does not carry that same quality. "I am going to lose a few pounds" is a wishful statement. If I say "I will lose a few pounds", the intent is more serious. Does any of that make sense?

They all mean the same. Yes both are talking about something occuring in the future. English does not stress the future tense as much as other languages. You have nailed it.

They basically mean the same thing however. If you use "will" it means that this is certain so it is defiantly going to happen in the future. when use use I "am" It's not as certain as I "will" it's kinda like saying " I probably will do _____." So am is a little more flexible than "will".
