Do Americans familiar about the flatfish? Or what kind of other fish is familiar to them usually?
I used flatfish as an anology of thing looking up to the world. I want to convey this meaning, anny suggestions?

If this is an idiom in your native language, I think it's safe to say it doesn't translate to English.

Cod and Flounder is common but I don't know if they are literally flat. Whitefish is another . You can search for pictures of them and see if that is what you want.
