Going To or Will? In daily life is there a real distinction between the following structures: "I am going to + verb" and "I will + verb..." ? Or they can be used in interchangeable way?

'I am going to' suggests an intention or a plan. I will suggests a confirmation that it 'will' happen, therefore more probable

There is a real distinction, but they can often be used interchangeably. I had this come up a few hours ago: http://classic.italki.com/discussion/115802

- I am going to buy a bag in Milan.
