I think memorizing words from a vocabulary book isn't a practical way to add to your language. you can do this by using all form of any language skills. first, you can read electronic English newspaper like The Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/) or Washington post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/) that will add to your vocab collection regarding public and international issues that happen in the world. Second, you can follow famous English pages on Facebook, read comments, and recognize how natives express their feelings and opinions in English. If you find a word that is not familiar, check it on Merriam-Webster (http://www.merriam-webster.com/) Another skill is listening. any people can know a lot of words but can't pronounce them in a right way. so my advice is to try this interesting website Voscreen (https://www.voscreen.com/), that helps you improve your English language skills on your own language through short video clips. More advanced, you should watch English movies with English subtitles below. Popcorn app. Can provide this service for you (http://popcorn-time.to/). There is an App called Memrise that I thoroughly recommend, you can make your own lessons with the vocabulary you need to learn or use some that already exist. It asks you the vocabulary actively and passively in a game like way. Mark to do at least 5 minutes of this everyday, and just be consistent. 5 minutes, every single day can take you a looong way. I swear!

Almost everyone else here is suggesting different places to FIND vocabulary words in a natural setting - which is always good, but probably not the question you asked. Linguists (Language Scientists) have studied this problem, and they found out that the best way to learn vocabulary is something called "spaced repetition". This means the better you know a word, the less often you need to read it and study it. Words that you know very well, you will only study once a month or less. But words you don't know very well, you will study every day. The better you do, the less you have to study those words! The only problem with this is that it's hard to do properly without a computer, and as a teacher I can't put it into my class very easily except as homework. Memrise uses spaced repetition, and so do Duolingo and Anki. I encourage all my students to find a program that uses spaced repetition for vocabulary, and I recommend using any of the three I mentioned.
