Korean films and movies have the following elements that we can not resist: -Nice looking guys and girls (It doesn't matter whether they have had plastic surgery or not, they look perfect) -It tells fairy tales. Most people can get their dreams coming true in TV series. -It represents the latest in Korean fashion.

Korean drama has interesting market and audience environments. The main target audience is middle aged women in living Seoul. So, the Korean drama evoled to show fantasy of such audience to fullfill their desire. The main theme is love fantasy and freedom from traditional role of women. Interestingly, In morning time drama, the main theme is unethincal love looking for freedom out of boyfriends or husbands. It is because only housewives watch morning drama after husbands and children go out. The dramas targeting to female audience are popular at evening time too. Korean is the hardest and longest working country in the world. The average working hour of Korea is far longer than Japan and USA. A lot of workers work even at evening, and they are too tired to watch TV after return to home. In this environment of audience market. Korean drama evolved to fullfill women's fantasy for a long time and reached to a quite impressive level attracting audience outside Korea too. It is consistent that the main Korean drama fans outside Korea also show the similar gender-age disribution to the target Korean audience.

When I've watched Korean/Japanese dramas my eyes were like ♥ㅅ♥ But once the drama was over, I've noticed there's no one but the actor. There's some famous cliches in many Korean dramas, some of male characters in the drama are usually arrogant, rich and tend to speak carelessly. We used to say that the boys in the drama say "You're the first girl to say like that to me." and fall in love with the girl. Anyway if you fall in love with that kind of character, it means you also have the fantasy. Many of us have a certain fantasy to tame a BAD boy/girl. :b Other male characters are usually kind, considerate and let the girl have her way. Who wouldn't fall in love with this kind of guy? But the former and the latter both are sorta unrealistic actually. Just enjoy the drama as the drama.

i'm not to rebuke your statement but there is a reason why they are called korean dramas instead of korean real lives ;) if you think hollywood is as great as the glitters you saw, there won't be a person like heath ledger who either shot himself or went overdosed despite the popularity.
