How do you read out 2000s?
In the following sentence, I feel either reading 2000s as two thousands or twenty hundreds is incorrect. I mean you have to make clear that you are telling about any year within the first ten years of the twenty first cenrury, rather than any millenium or century. So how?
------------------------ While (a country) a did devalue the yuan in the 1990s and 2000s, (a placename--standing for a government) modified its currency policy in 2005 and allowed the yuan to appreciate. -----------------------------

"Two thousands" is the only way to say it that sounds right to me.

Do people say "the noughties"?

The only answer is "two thousands". The other responder is delusional.
Sorry to be blunt but the other person should not make guesses. He/she is unqualified to answer

I don't think there is a standard way to say this. If you said any version of it after the expression "the 1990s", then we would understand. Perhaps "twenty hundreds"?
If I wanted to say something professional, I would say "the first decade of the 21st century", though obviously I would usually speak it and write it identically.

As we only say "two thousand" for the years between 2000 and 2009 (we can't use "twenty-" for these dates) I think you're better off saying "two thousands". It's what I'd say, in any case, but as it's a new millennium the language related to it is still evolving.
