Italian Grammar question Noi siamo rimaste/rimasti male con quella notizia. - Would it be 'rimaste' because male has an -e ending, or would it be 'rimasti' because we do not know the gender of the people?

Hi, provided that the most common form is "CI siamo rimasti male A quella notizia" (Ci meaning "in that situation) male = BAD we felt bad -- is an adverb -- no accorded rimasti (male gend) // rimaste (fem gend) -- deduction comes from the context, (here is indifferent)
