Are There Different Accents in Mexio? In the United States, people speak with different accents depending on which region of the country they are from. For example, people native to the Southern region of the U.S. have a distinctly different accent than those who are native to the North East region. Does the same apply to the country of Mexico? Can natives tell from what part of Mexico a person is from just by listening to them speak? Sorry, title should read Mexico!

Hi, The dialects or accents I know about Mexico are: People living in Mexico City: EL CHILANGO The people of Nuevo León, Monterrey. State located in the north of the country. A stronger, more beaten accent: REGIO People living in the State of Yucatan, in the country's peninsula: YUCATECO The inhabitants of the State of Veracruz, which is located to the east of the country : JAROCHOS you can search the sound by youtube. I hope I have been able to help you :)

From my experience, yes. I'm from the North and I can tell if someone is not from the North. People from the Centre/South say we sound "golpeado" meaning we kind of sound angry while we're talking (even though we are not). In the Centre, we call it "acento chilango", and it is totally different from the one we use here in the north of the country. We also tend to make fun of each other when it comes to accents (jokingly). I don't know if this is useful, but as a native speaker I find it really helping for non-native speakers: https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-main-differences-between-Mexican-accents-in-different-regions Have a nice day! ¡Hasta luego!
