Mile for mile? I would be really grateful if you help me to understand this phrase. Some examples: Statistics shows that, mile for mile, it's riskier to be a pedestrian than to drive a car. It's true that, mile for mile, women have more minor accidents than men.

"Mile for mile" means "proportionately, based on the number of miles travelled". For instance, your second example could be written as "It's true that women have more minor accidents PER MILE than men." As for your first example, we could say something like, "Statistically, there is more risk in walking a mile than in driving a mile."
