Is this ok? Could you tell me which is the way to the nearest toilet?

Well, in the US, we don't use the word "toilet" unless we are talking about the literal toilet bowl fixture. I believe they use it in Britain the way you mean it, and they do in Germany and it's not a bad word over there. You don't want to say it in the US because, for some really odd reason I have never understood, people in the US do mildly take offence to it. It's not terrible, just considered the wrong word to use. We say "restroom(s)" to refer to private or public places to use a toilet. When I young, we used to say "bathroom" all the time, even in school. Like, "Teacher, I need to go to the bathroom." But, even back then people realized how dumb that was since no one is taking a bath in those places. Then I heard "potty" but that's really baby talk to me. Restroom is all we've have left. Outside the US you can say "toilet" or "toilets" but not in this place.

Yes, that's ok but English speakers rarely say toilet. It's better to ask; Where is the nearest bathroom; restroom or men's room
