Same that or as (please) Hi, there Could you help me? On a tv show, I heard: "This is the same teddy bear Stewie has"... and then, on another tv show, i came across this:"You putting the same effort into your job as you did my class" What's the difference? Why do you say "same teddy bear (THAT) Stewiw has" but "same effort into your job AS you did my class"?... Why not "putting the same effort into your job THAT you did my class"? Thank you

It's about phrasing. Neither is wrong, it's just how it's phrased. "It's the same teddybear as Stewie's" = "It's the same teddy bear that Stewie has." **Prefer #1 "You putting the same effort in your job as you do in class" = "You putting the same effort into your job that you put in class"**Prefer #2 Usually if we know the original thing you are comparing it to, you can use 'as' for the simple phrase "It's the same as Y" when we know X already. If not, and we mention X, we often use "same...that" for a longer explanation. "X is the same thing that Y does" for example.

Hello! When you are comparing something to another object there are several ways to describe the similarities and for your correction of 'as you did in my class' to 'that you did in my class' is grammatically correct, great catch!

They're basically the same, Jordana.
