Learning Italian and Latin same time
Hi there

I'm about a b1/b2 level in Italian, I also now live in Italy so assume I will eventually pick up the lingo eventually.
I need a new brain activity, either latin or Greek.
Has anyone (I'm asking British people as we're infamously bad at learning language) tried Italian and Latin together - did you get muddled up or was the process ok.
I will still study Italian as well, but I plan to do a bit of Latin in the mornings.
Also any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi George,

This is Annarita from Milan and I teach both Italian and Latin.

As Italian, Latin is a very inflected language: nouns, adjectives, pronouns and verbs undergo change of form to express modification of meaning. This process is called Declension for nouns, adjectives and pronouns; it’s called Conjugation for verbs. Although there are no declensions in Italian, you have already experienced the inflected system, therefore I think it wouldn’t be difficult for you to approach Latin and study these languages together. 
Furthermore Italian is a Romance language, so you will see how many vocabularies they have in common. Latin would definitely widen your Italian word case and be useful to understand and handle more complex situations/texts you are going to face in a B2 level of Italian.
