"al tiempo" is not correct, at least is not common.
"al mismo tiempo" = at the same time, at the same moment, simultaneously
"a tiempo" = on time
" a los tiempos!!" = it was some time ago

AL TIEMPO and AL MISMO TIEMPO have the same meaning.
However, reading some of the answers I can see AL TIEMPO is not as common in some regions, but I have heard it and used it myself.
"Vamos a saltar al tiempo, ¿va?..." / "Vamos a saltar al mismo tiempo, ¿va?..."

I've heard "al tiempo" in the following context: two persons are arguing about something that can happen in the future. One of the two says "that won't happen"; the other answer: "al tiempo", meaning wait and see how it will become true.
I doubted if this interpretation is in the dictionary, but it is. From the RAE:
y si no, al tiempo
1. expr.

Su uso más habitual es temporal (mientras, simultáneamente....at the same time, at once).
