in the near future VS in the next future
Hi guys,
I'm wondering which of the two expression reported as the question's subject is correct.
Most of the results returned by internet searches report the first; the same happens when it comes to web dictionaries (Collins, MacMillan, Cambridge).
Is the second way correct too or at least less used than the former?
Or just completely wrong?
Thank you as usual for your precious support

Maybe you were thinking of this use of "next"?
"What will the internet be like in the next 50 years?"

Only "in the near future" is correct.

Thank you Courtney and Michael for you comments. Especially Michael's is very interesting, that's the first time I've heard vaporware outside the context of IT (and honestly, that's a term not that common these days even in IT, at least in Italy ... maybe "in the near future" it will come back among the trendiest IT buzzwords)

Exactly what Michael said! I've never heard "in the next future". Instead, people say "in the near future" or as Michael said, "soon", for short.
