is it any difference between 帮助 and 帮忙？

Both can be verb, but there are differences:
帮忙: is a typical example of verb phrase which is: verb.+noun. (帮v.+忙n.) These kind of verb phrases can't be followed by noun. or pronoun. and you can modify the noun in these phrases. 
Eg: 你帮我一个忙,好吗?( you can't say: 你帮忙我一个)
similar phrases: 上课v.+n. （上中文课，上三次课。。。），做饭v.+n.（做中国饭，做一家三口的饭。。。）
帮助: is verb phrase composed by v.+v. so it's same with normal verb. because 帮and助 are same meaning, so sometimes can just use 帮
Eg：你帮(助)我一下,好吗？

Both of them also can be noun. they are the same meaning and function. 帮助is little bit formal.
Eg: 他给了我很大帮助。
      谢谢你的帮忙。（谢谢你的帮助。little bit formal)

帮助，we have to use it as a whole word,like "帮助。。。"，you cant say "帮。。。助"for example,我曾经帮助过他i helped him before.
帮忙，可以合起来用，也可以分开用，我们把这种词叫做“离合词”。
帮忙，you can use it as a whole word,or separate it,
for example,看到朋友困难，我当然应该帮忙。of course i should help them if i see they are in trouble 
帮他的忙help him=帮助他
