To know the API (alphabet phonetic international) is very important because, you could pronounce correctly some new word using the dictionary. And the pronunciation is very important because in the English language the consonant sound is so complicated and every letters (sound) give a lot of information ( verbs in past, present,).

For me i think it is importat because it will help me to communicate with other from different nationality because most of the people around the world speak english
