Hu E

I have been studying with 胡老师 since July 2022. She is sincerely passionate about teaching Chinese. Our lessons are a combination of using the 博雅汉语 textbook and materials that she personally prepares that cover Chinese culture, history, and various holidays throughout the year. The variety in our lessons is quite enjoyable, and I greatly appreciate the very detailed feedback she provides on my homework assignments as well as spoken language. She not only corrects grammatical mistakes, but also recommends sentence structures that are more closely aligned with how Chinese people actually communicate. I have a long way to go, but 胡老师 is really helping me to get much better. And our lessons are quite fun.

Fascinating class about the Tang dynasty, with lots of helpful visuals and maps. Teacher Hu did a really excellent job talking about the people who were important in Chinese history and how they contributed to making China what it is today.

Excellent Teacher. I have been attending classes with her for about 1.5 years, going from appx. HSK 4 level to reading native-level novels. - Always on time and engaged throughout the lesson - Uses all free materials - Willing to lecture on special topics of your choosing, often making custom presentations for them

I've taken many HSK lessons with Hu. For me, excitement and flexibility are the most important traits in a teacher, because excitement is contagious and every student is different. Hu abounds in both. Hu starts off each class with a great smile and she has made a number of customization to our course plan, like custom homework and teaching methods. Hu also does not stop at the end of the lesson and answers my questions/corrects my grammar when questions arise. Hu especially loves talking about Chinese history. In these conversations, her passion is clear and she prepares very detailed PPT slides for interesting discussions.
