I have been a Chinese language and culture teacher for more than 8 years. I teach international students in Tsinghua University, Beijing Normal University and Beijing Jiaotong University. I also teach middle school international students and foreigners who live and work in Beijing. I also teach foreign kids whose age are usually below 10 online.I have taught hundreds of students in China and abroad , online and offline.

Chinese grammar is simple. The hard part is Chinese characters. But don't worry, because we only need 3000 words for our daily communications. I have been a Chinese teacher for five years. I find that many beginners worried a lot about their pronunciation at the beginning. They are too careful to avoid making any mistakes. However, as a teacher, I will encourage my student to try new expressions they have just learned. Don't worry about mistakes. That's how learning works.

At that time, he had been taking some Chinese lessons with a native Spanish speaker. However, I found that his learning method could be improved and realized I could be his Chinese teacher. Since our common language is English, this also gave me an opportunity to practice my English language skills. I discovered that I could use pinyin to help my friend pronounce Chinese correctly. The Chinese language is very different from other languages - both in grammar and pronunciation. This is why I teach my students step by step, in a fun and relaxed way. :)

Thus, it sounds very different from tone languages such as Mandarin Chinese or Cantonese. In tone languages, pitch (the degree of highness or lowness of a tone) is used to distinguish word meaning. So a word said with high pitch may have a different meaning than the same word said with a low pitch. ☆ In English, much information is carried by the use of auxiliaries and by verb inflections: is/are/were, eat/eats/ate/eaten, etc. Chinese, on the other hand, is an uninflected language and conveys meaning through word order, adverbials or shared understanding of the context.
