One of the most experienced German teachers on italki (more than 4000 lessons) I'm a professional German teacher certified by the renown Goethe Institut. In my experience the biggest problem with learning a language is that the students think they need to get it perfectly right every time they say something. This stops you from talking freely, and makes you fall short of your full potential. In my lessons, I will encourage you to speak without being afraid of making mistakes. I offer different kinds of lessons, some follow a course structure, others are only focused on conversation. Of course it's also possible to mix a structural approach with free speaking.

Russian, English and German Lessons with Maria -> is a challenge, so if you need some extra-motivation, I cannot help you. I teach without camera because I want to focus on teaching / learning, but I am free to talk and discuss many topics with you. Another thing: if you feel a teacher should pursue you, if you are not interested in learning yourself, but you think some magic might happen, unfortunately, I cannot help. I always build my lessons on students' needs. As for tools I use, I like interactive boards and platforms. I do my best to make my students feel comfortable. As for connection, I prefer Skype but can easily switch to Zoom or any other app you like.

German obviously is my native language, and I basically have a whole life of experience speaking English at work or privately. Russian is my 3rd strongest language, and although I have no certificates confirming that, I can teach you that language up to a pretty high level, as you can see from my intro video. Besides that, I am also very interested and knowledgeable in the field of linguistics and I can help you with pronunciation and accents on a semi-professional level by applying things like the IPA, speech training and logopedic practices. At some point, I realised that teaching had become a passion. My professional experience before italki was focused mainly on exam preparation both in English (e.g. Cambridge, Trinity) and German (Goethe Institut, telc) and included - apart from the usual group and individual, intensive and regular courses - level-testing and organising mock exams. For several years, I also worked as an English examiner and corrector at one of the universities in Spain. I hold a C2 Certificate in Spanish (DELE).

I tutored many students for years at my old school in the german language and now I am teaching german as a volunteer at french schools. That’s why I also have a lot of experience tutoring people with different mother tongues.
