I know it might be "not so much attractive" to hear that someone is from Serbia or another Balkan country but the best thing about this is that I can teach you serbian, croatian, bosnian, montenegrian:-). I would say these languages are all the same with small regional differences and it is a kind of political issue that we all call it differently. I know that many people prefer native speakers, but it can sometimes be tricky. The native speakers are good teachers only if they are foreign langauge teachers, believe me. I also teach latin and italian so I think I could be a good choice for you:-)

I prefer the natural inductive method of teaching and the 'Familia Romana' textbook used at the Vivarium Novum Academy, so that you can understand Latin like your mother tongue and read the songs of Catullus and the wars of Caesar like modern fiction - easily and with pleasure. We don't just learn grammar, we read, speak, write and do all sorts of exercises in Latin.

I wish to stress from the outset that teaching is not merely something that I "went to school for," but a profession that I was born for. I have been a teacher for longer than most teachers have been alive. At the age of nine I was already leading the neighborhood kids on hikes through the woods, teaching them to identify the various species of reptiles and amphibians, to differentiate between the poisonous and non-poisonous snakes, and to recognize and utilize wild edible plants. A passion for preciseness and exactitude was innate, and remains characteristic of my teaching. As well do I enjoy imparting accurate knowledge, especially in regard to what is beautiful and profound.

Master's degree in Latin w/ 25 yrs. teaching experience; author of two widely-used Latin textbooks. I have an outstanding command of the Latin language, a keen understanding of Latin grammar and syntax, and a deep and meaningful knowledge of Hellenistic, Roman, and late-antique history. But more importantly during my 20 years of teaching I have developed an keen ability to *teach* the language. Rather than just being someone who happens to know a little Latin, I know both WHAT THE STUDENT NEEDS TO DO as well as WHAT THE TEACHER NEEDS TO DO in order to facilitate learning the language.
