Language learning needs structure, humour, and the right kind of obsession. I bring all three. I’ve taught Dutch and French in secondary school, and German and Dutch in adult education. I’ve been tutoring since I was a student myself — in law, languages, and study skills. My lessons are conversation-based, flexible, and adapted to your needs. I won’t give you a step-by-step textbook course — instead, I’ll coach you through real-life communication, at your level and pace. I don’t teach Dutch from scratch, but if you already speak a little, I’ll help you build fluency, confidence, and clarity. Because language is a skill — and you only learn it by using it.

I lived about four years in India and a big part of my daily life there was to learn and live a language, where even the script isn't the latin one. My journey led me to discover my joy for teaching. As a teacher I try to do the things that I have found most useful as a learner. We can speak about what interests you, read texts together or watch videos online and then talk about those. I do want to help you with whatever you need, so we will start by speaking about your goals and expectations regarding the lessons. I do not believe in studying grammar charts or vocabulary lists, but I do believe in improving those areas by gaining a natural understanding of how a language works through listening, reading an speaking.

In my own experience, if you want to learn a language, the most effective and fun way is talking with a (native) speaker. My native language is German but I also speak English and a little French and dutch. The German I speak is "hochdeutsch" which means it is the standard German without a dialect. I also have some teaching experience: I have been tutoring other students for many years now, both in high school and at university. I always enjoy getting to meet new people this way. relaxed german conversations ich würde sagen ich bin eine geduldige Lehrerin und lasse dem Schüler Zeit in aller Ruhe die Sätze zu konstruieren.( jedenfalls hoffe ich das haha) Das grösste Problem ist, finde ich, dass Leute sich unter Druck gefühlt setzen eine Sprache in kurzer Zeit beherrschen zu müssen und schnell in selbiger Sprache antworten zu müssen. Wenn man sich weniger unter Druck gesetzt fühlt, kann man sich auch besser ausdrücken. Ausserdem versuche ich das Selbstbewusstein des Schülers in der Sprache zu stärken.
