Good question. In this sentence, sputter means that the conversations are not going very well. They are struggling to proceed. It could be that there are many interruptions, pauses, stops, etc. Conversations frequently sputter before they die. I hope this helps! :)

Good question. In the U.S., they both generally mean the same thing. I think it is a bit more common to see entrée than main course in the U.S.

These verbs are similar because they both relate to a repeating sound. The main difference is that to throb usually occurs with a regular rhythm, whereas to pound does not need to be rhythmic. For example: "After the race finally ended, he could feel his heart throbbing like never before." "She pounded on his door for twenty minutes, but he wouldn't answer." I hope this helps. Keep up the great work.

My favorite subject was Art History. Throughout the lessons, I could learn the main patterns of different paintings and ages, and now I can still recognize them. Plus, I love visiting museums and exhibitions throughout northern Italy. I like all kinds of artistic expressions and beautiful aesthetic things in general.

“This is one of my biggest desires in life.” Is this sentence correct? How can I make it sounds more natural? Thank you 🙏🏻

Family businesses remind me of the local shops in Japan that sell traditional handicrafts. They aren't international chains, so you cannot find the same products elsewhere. The costs are higher than those of chain brands. However, the quality and sophistication are one of a kind.
