Would You Still Learn English If You Were The Last Person On Earth?

First and foremost, carefully read the passage or section and understand its main idea and purpose. Pay attention to the overall theme and the information presented. This will help you grasp the essence of the passage and identify the most relevant title.

Next, consider the tone and style of the passage. Is it informative, persuasive, or narrative? This will guide you in choosing a title that accurately reflects the overall tone and style of the passage.

Look for recurring keywords or phrases that capture the central idea or main theme. These keywords often provide clues to help you select an appropriate title. Consider the main points and arguments presented in the passage and choose a title that reflects these key elements.

When selecting a title, think about its broad and inclusive nature. A good title should encapsulate the main idea or purpose of the passage without being too specific or narrow. It should be able to cover the entire content of the passage or section.

Avoid titles that are overly generic or too similar to the headings or subheadings within the passage. Look for titles that capture the uniqueness and distinctiveness of the content. A strong title should entice readers and give them a clear sense of what to expect from the passage.

Pay attention to any contrasting or conflicting ideas presented in the passage. Consider whether the title you choose accurately represents the overall message, even if there are opposing viewpoints or multiple perspectives.

Allocate a specific amount of time for each question and avoid spending too much time deliberating on a single title. If you're uncertain about a title, make an educated guess and move on.

第18話は欠番です。Notionには　あります。
「ヲタク」はもう、「スシ」「カワイイ」「カラオケ｝と同じくらい、有名な「日本語」になっていますね。この「ヲタク」文化の中に「鉄道ヲタク」というのがあるのを、ごぞんじですか。電車が大好きな人たちのことで、この中にもいろいろな種類があります。たとえば、写真を撮るのが好きな人は「撮（と）り鉄」。駅のホームの一番はしっこで、よく写真を撮ってるのを見かけます。（落ちたら、あぶない、あぶない！）他にも「乗り鉄」というのがあって、これは電車に乗るのが楽しくてたまらない人たちのことです。でもね、線路がいつまでもあると思ったら、大まちがい！先週、JRのフリーパスを使って旅行したらね、前より線路が短くなってたよ。そんな私の一日電車旅行の話です。あ、私は「乗り鉄」ではありませんよー。

第20話　線路は続くよ、どこまでも？

Leonard: I couldn't agree more!
Alisha: Wait, you don't agree with me?
L: No, I said, I couldn't agree more. That means I completely agree with you.
A: What? Then why did you say you couldn't agree with me!

I think we can all relate with Alisha. There are so many indirect ways of saying something so simple and direct. We use such structures to add nuance to our meaning!

But it 'can' be confusing for a language learner.

In this series on the Confusing Structures in the English Language, we will discuss these very structures so that the next time Leonard says 'he couldn't agree more,' or 'he couldn't care less' or some such phrase, you'd know exactly what he is saying.
