🇬🇧🇺🇸🇨🇦🇦🇺 4th of July, 2024 English Diary I finished work rather early today. Unlike yesterday, the weather outside was ravishing. The sun was blazing, and the sky was so blue that it would have been a waste not to enjoy a bit of a stroll. As I was walking, I listened to a Japanese audiobook of the novel ‘Weathering with You’. It’s been two weeks since I first started it, but eventually, my attention was drawn back to it. Not that I understood every single word I heard, but because I really enjoyed the movie and also read the book in its original language, I can say I that I am able to follow most of the narration. At times, I repeat what I hear and try to pay attention to the stress and modulation of the narrator’s voice. I do not always succeed and I sometimes end up talking gibberish, especially if it’s at a normal speed. But since I do not want to have the feeling that I am not maintaining my ability in a language I love learning, I just go for it. And sometimes, it is crucial not to overthink things while absorbing new vocabulary. I may have got used to it, but the beauty of these surroundings when I reach the lake is always mesmerising.
