Smooth talker or Straight talker?

A man approached me at the airport, he looks friendly, he was smiling and approached me and asked some questions. He was super friendly actually that it made my hair stand. The thing about smooth talkers is that they are friendly for a reason.. Filipinos are naturally friendly but of course it is important to be a little cautious about people who display an unusual level of friendliness at first meeting. A woman approached me at the bus, she saw how the talkative man approached me and talked to me to get my number.

" Be careful with sweet talkers in this place, you are new here, do not get him as your guide".

I tend to find smooth-talking, charming, charismatic people to be deceptive. It’s rare for someone to be genuinely charismatic. People like others to show interest in them, and smooth talkers use this to their advantage. When someone shows more interest in you than the normal amount of interest for a complete stranger, it’s probably fake and hiding an ulterior motive.

You can find this kind of people in every tourist places, Florian. They just do their job and want you to become their client and I agree that they could be annoying.

@drasvi Yes I am currently travelling in Bohol and while sitting at the airport, the man approached me. At first it was okay to be friendly but when someone ask too many details, it is a natural reaction to stay away. Other tourist noticed his behaviour and warned me not to get him asa guide.
