Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Movies and television shows made in foreign countries are usually more interesting and popular than those made in our home countries. Many people enjoy watching movies and television programs, and some are particularly attracted by foreign films and TV shows, which seem more appealing than those produced in their home countries. I am one of those people who like to view the new things represented in foreign films and embrace differences in cultures. First, although most films and TV shows themselves are fascinating no matter where they are made (is this true? A lot of it is rubbish!), foreign ones may seem more interesting because nearly everything in them is new to overseas audiences. Those exotic places, people, animals, clothes, scenery, construction, plants, and so on in overseas films are more engrossing than common images, which audiences are used to. Secondly, foreign films remind us of the differences between cultures, which not only invite us to reflect on our own way of thinking but also promote our understanding of diversity. For example, I saw an American movie about mountain climbers many years ago when we didn’t have ( or maybe - ago, at which point we hadn’t had) any professional climbers here in China. I was shocked and also inspired by their adventurous spirit and attitude to life. In conclusion, I believe foreign films and TV shows are more interesting because they let us experience new things and offer different perspectives on reality.
