Merging Questions In Indonesian In American English, we can ask for several bits of information in one question. For instance, suppose you want to know the following bits of information: 1. When did you take these photos of yourself? 2. Where did you take these photos of yourself? 3. Why did you take these photos of yourself? All three of these can be merged into one question like this: "When, where, and why did you take these photos of yourself?" This saves the person who is asking the question some time and breath since they don't have to repeat "did you take these photos of yourself" which appears in all three questions several times. Can the same be done in Indonesian too?

Yes it can... Normally it would be written like: "Kapan kamu ambil photo-photo kamu ini, dimana dan kenapa?" or in passive form (to prevent "kamu" repetition) "Kapan photo-photo kamu ini diambil, dimana dan kenapa?" Kapan : when Dimana : when Kena[a : why

"Kapan kamu ambil photo-photo kamu ini, dimana dan kenapa?" In my opinion, I feel a bit uncomfortable with this question because questioning 3 things in a row it sounds a bit captious and judgmental and it's only happen in Quiz tv program or in exam lol, especially the "WHY" question it sounds weird to ask someone why he/she took the picture of her/his self in most cases. and as far as I remember I haven't heard someone asking such that question to me, it usually happen like this : A : foto dimana nih ? B : Ooo itu di pantai bla bla bla. A : Kapan? B : tahun lalu bla bla bla. --- end ---- A: Foto kamu nih? B: iya. A: Ooo Kok mukanya kotor gitu, lagi ngapain sih emang (formal form: memang kamu sedang apa) ? B: iya itu difoto sewaktu sedang bermain bersama keponakan. --- end ----
