Hi! I’m Joost, a native Dutch speaker originally from the Netherlands, now living in the UK. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Literary Studies and also studied to become an English teacher. I’ve taught at all levels of Dutch high schools, including at a Montessori school. I currently teach languages online, and I love helping students connect what they learn to real-life situations. Whether you're learning Dutch for work, exams, or personal growth, I’d love to support you.
As a teacher, I’m patient, supportive, and focused on your goals. I’ve taught both children and adults, and I always personalize lessons to suit your pace and learning style. I’ve helped students prepare for job interviews, improve their pronunciation, and build confidence in speaking. I know from experience how challenging it can be to learn a new language, especially when moving abroad or preparing for an exam, so I aim to make the process as clear, practical, and motivating as possible.
My Dutch lessons are relaxed, practical, and built around real-life use of the language. I focus on conversation, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, always tailored to what you want to achieve. I like my teacher to actively look for weak areas and come up with a plan to remedy them. I would recommend to try Joost and see if he fits your learning style. It takes time but I am now starting to see regular improvements in my Dutch.
