Hey! I'm Thomas 😄 A native Flemish Dutch speaker from Belgium.
After teaching 300+ NT2 students, I built The Smart Dutch System™ - a structured, science-based approach fully tailored to you.
We identify your level first, then focus on exactly what moves you forward fastest. Every lesson connects to the previous one, tracked in a shared document so nothing gets lost.

As a teacher, I try to adapt to each student’s learning style while staying honest about what truly helps you improve.
My approach combines clear structure with personal flexibility: some students need more help with sentence structure, others with expanding their vocabulary or increasing fluency.
Together, we first identify your level and then focus on what will help you progress the fastest.
Even though the lessons are structured, I keep the atmosphere lighthearted and relaxed.
And mistakes? They are not only allowed, they are essential to the learning process.
My goal is to create a comfortable, structured environment where you feel confident practicing and improving your Dutch :)

From near-zero to near-intermediate Dutch (B1) in just over 3 months, Thomas has hand-tailored my lessons and homework to help me progress quickly while I've still thoroughly enjoyed the process. Thomas is making learning the Dutch language easy. He is supportive and attentive, you will practice pronunciation, learn new words and grammar. The reading exercises are adapted to the student's topics of choice. Highly recommended!

We have done a typing exercise, I think it's useful. We also have read a few texts with common verbs, most of which I was able to understand.
