My name is Angelo and I teach Dutch on Italki. I am a native Dutch speaker, but I am half indonesian although I don't speak bahasa indonesia. I love learning languages as well as teaching others. Recently I have been working on my Japanese, and I'm 'learning' Thai by taking listening classes ONLY. I want to see how much I can learn by JUST listening. I believe that learning a language is a straightforward yet overcomplicated process. Input: exposing the brain to language. Giving it the opportunity to pick up the language and internalize it. Output: practising the language that is already inside the brain. Speaking won't teach you new language. It will make you more comfortable by establishing new connections in the brain when trying to think of language and speak at the same time. I offer 2 types of lessons: - Conversation practise: Dutch conversation of any level. You will practice using the language that you already know. - Input learning: I will speak comprehensible Dutch to you. You can respond in English if you prefer. The point is to give your brain as much input from me as possible so you can pick up new language. Although I like grammar, I'm NOT a teacher so I won't be able to answer all grammar related questions / provide a curriculum. I believe that any language can be acquired without necessarily having to teach first. The way I see it, grammar just helps you understand the language better.
