"The Mouse and the Snake" is a short story by David Sedaris that explores themes of fear, vulnerability, and the unexpected connections between strangers. In the story, Sedaris recounts an incident from his childhood when he found a dead mouse in his family's pool. Initially repulsed, he decides to dispose of it by throwing it over the fence into a neighbor's yard. However, when he goes to retrieve it later, he discovers that a snake has coiled itself around the mouse, preparing to eat it.

In this episode, I talk about interviewing in a second language. Speaking in a second language is tough; interviewing is tough. Doing both of them at the same time? Well, it can feel like walking into the lion’s den. It’s not for the faint of heart. And yet, there are a lot of brave souls out there who are willing to do what it takes to land a job in their second language.
