Hay un experimento clásico que pone a un voluntario en el dilema de decidir qué hacer con un vagón que avanza descontrolado hacia cinco trabajadores que no pueden verlo. El voluntario observa la escena desde lo alto de un puente junto a otra persona. Si empuja a esta persona a las vías, morirá, pero detendrá el vagón y salvará cinco vidas. Cuando el experimento se realiza con personas que hablan dos idiomas y responden en su lengua materna, el veinte por ciento decide que sacrificar a una persona es aceptable para salvar a cinco.
