はい、こんにちは。今回はポッドキャストの16回目です。大阪は今週からだんだん暖かくなっています。来週の予報は、最高気温が10度を超えています。私の実家は東京ですが、大阪は東京に比べると天気がいいです。晴れている日が多いです。寒いと電気代が高くなるので、早く春になってほしいですね。

Hi, This is the podcast episode 16. It has been getting warmer and warmer in Osaka this week. The forecast for next week is for a high of over 10 degrees Celsius. I’m from Tokyo, and the weather in Osaka is much nicer than in Tokyo. It is sunny most days. I hope spring will come soon because the cold weather will make our electricity bill higher.

もうすぐ春なので、最近は引越しをする人が多いです。日本では、3月から4月は学校や会社が始まるシーズンで、学生や新社会人が一人暮らしを始めるからです。私も授業で、生徒さんとよく引越しの話をします。国によって引越しのシステムやプロセスが違うので面白いですね。

It's almost spring, so many people are moving out these days. In Japan, March-April is the season for schools and companies to start, and it's because students and those who just graduated school and became working adults start living alone. In my classes, I often talk about moving with my students. It's interesting because the system and process of moving differs from country to country.

日本で家を借りるときは、ほとんどの場合、不動産業者と契約をします。まず不動産業者のウェブサイトを見て、希望に合う部屋を探します。広さや、駅からの距離や、築年数が書かれています。「築年数」とは、建物の古さのことです。建てられてから１年経ったアパートは、「築１年」といいます。日本では新しいアパートのほうが人気があるので、新しいアパートのほうが値段が高いです。建てられて１年未満で、まだ誰も住んでいない家を「新築」といいます。

When you rent a house in Japan, you almost always sign a contract with a real estate agent. The first thing to do is to look at the real estate agent's website and find a room that fits your needs. You will find the size of the room, the distance from the station, and the age of the building. “Chikunensuu” (the age of the building) refers to how old the building is. An apartment built one year ago is said to be “Chiku 1nen” (1 year old building). In Japan, newer apartments are more popular, so newer apartments are more expensive. A house that has been built for less than a year and no one is living in it yet is called “Shinchiku” (newly built).

        这个星期六，白雪和我一起去看看她喜欢的那套公寓，那套公寓价格一个月1800，包括水电费。对她来说挺便宜。

        我们是坐地铁去的，一路上，白雪想她以后的生活：她可以在公寓的大阳台上种一些花花草草，而且这个公寓离公司很近，工作日的早上，她可以多睡一个小时的懒觉！
        
        下了地铁站，我们按照地图来到公寓附近，但这个地方并不是很容易找到。
        
        不一会儿，介绍人就来了，他带我们上去。白雪并不知道，这个公寓竟然在九楼，而且还没有电梯！
        到了九楼，我们都累坏了。介绍人开了门，我们发现客厅比照片上小很多，沙发也不是新的，卧室和阳台不很大。从阳台上看，小公园里非常多人，一些人在放音乐非常吵。

        这个公寓在照片上看起来很漂亮，但是实际上，一点儿也不！这不是照片，这是照骗，骗人的骗！白雪太失望了。

This Saturday, Baixue and I went to see the apartment she liked. The price of the apartment was 1800 yuan a month, including water and electricity fees. It's cheap for her.

We went there by subway. On the way, Bai Xue thought about her future life: she could plant some flowers on the balcony of the apartment. Moreover, the apartment is very close to the company. On weekdays, she could sleep in for an extra hour!

After getting off the subway station, we followed the map to the apartment, but this place is not easy to find.

Soon, the introducer came and took us up. Baixue doesn't know that this apartment is on the ninth floor, and without an elevator!

Arrived at the ninth floor, we were all exhausted. When the introducer opened the door, we found that the living room is much smaller than the photo shows, the sofa is not new, and the bedroom and balcony is not large. From the balcony, we saw there are many people in the small park. Some people are playing music and making a lot of noise.

The apartment looks beautiful in the photos, but in fact it's not at all! This is not a photo, this is a photo cheat! (骗人 and 照片 are having same piàn骗, 片) Bai Xue was so disappointed.

日本では、新年のはじめに初詣、はつもうでに行きます。
人によりますが、だいたいの人が行くと思います。

初詣とは、その年はじめに神社へ行き、その年の健康などを願います。

元旦早朝から行われることが一般的ですが、1日に行けない人は1月前半、遅くても1月中には行きます。

神社に行って、お参りする時は、
二拝二拍手一拝をします。

2回お礼をして、
2回手を叩き、
最後に1回お礼をします。

願いごとをする時は、最後のお礼の時にします。

今年は残念ながら行けません。
毎年行っているので、行かないとちょっと変な感じがします。

Starting a job at an English speaking company can be a challenge. So much new information, meeting new people, and lots of conversations. Although listening is important, knowing what to say when you speak is important too. So for people who speak English as a 2nd language, today we're going to discuss some tips and vocabulary that we can use to make starting work at an English speaking employer as easy, simple, and stress free as possible. We'll hear some idioms, phrasal verbs, and more formal ways to express your ideas, to ask questions, to clarify information, and to introduce yourself. At the end we'll have a vocabulary quiz to see if you can remember what you learned, and a speaking challenge to get you talking!
