Welcome to this British English podcast. 

In this episode I'll be discussing the topic 'British politeness'.

Brits, which is short for 'British people', are often known for being polite. 

Polite means "showing respect for other people". For example, many Brits often say 'please and thank you'.

In Britain, people often say 'sorry'. They use the word 'sorry' in many different situations. For example,

"sorry I'm late!" or if a person bumps into you, they will often say 'sorry' very quickly. 

 British people are indirect when speaking. For example, a British person wouldn't say
"give me the salt", instead they would say "could you pass me the salt, please?". 

Finally, British people love to queue. 
To queue means 'to wait in line'. They queue for everything! Especially the bus!

perrito de esta historia.

 Presta atención a la lectura de tu profesor.

Érase una vez un perrito que encontró un hueso. Enseguida llegó un
perro más grande, que le gruñó, le enseñó los dientes, lo miró con
ojos amenazadores y le quitó el hueso. El perro grande quería
comerse el hueso. Pero entonces llegó otro perro grande que también
quería el hueso.

Los dos perros grandes se pelearon gruñendo, se enseñaron los
dientes y se miraron con ojos amenazadores. Se movían en círculo
alrededor del hueso y cada uno quería echarle la boca al otro.

Entonces el perrito se metió entre los dos perros grandes, cogió el
hueso y salió corriendo. Los dos perros grandes no se dieron cuenta
de nada. Seguían corriendo en círculo, gruñendo, enseñándose los
dientes y mirándose con ojos amenazadores, y Pero ya no había
ningún hueso! Porque, a esas alturas, ya se lo había comido el perrito.

眉- Méi

 As a noun, "眉" directly refers to the eyebrows. 
 眉毛 - méi mao - eyebrows

例如 (For example): 
他的眉毛很浓。- Tā de méi mao hěn nóng  
(His eyebrows are very thick.)

However, it is often used metaphorically in Chinese to denote expressions or emotions conveyed by the movement of the eyebrows, such as surprise, concern, or anger.

For instance, 眉头- méi tóu - the inner brow, refers to the area where the eyebrows begin, typically located above the inner corners of the eyes.

For example, "皱眉头" - zhòu méi tóu, means "to furrow one's brow," indicating worry or deep thought..

Idiomatic Expressions: "眉- Méi" appears in various idioms that use eyebrows metaphorically to talk about emotions or aesthetic qualities.

眉开眼笑 - méi kāi yǎn xiào - lit. "eyebrows rise and eyes smile," meaning to smile joyfully or beam with happiness

眉飞色舞 - méi fēi sè wǔ - lit. "eyebrows fly and colors dance," used to describe vivid, expressive facial gestures of excitement or happiness

Metaphorical Usage: In poetic or artistic contexts, "眉" can metaphorically relate to things that resemble the shape or curve of eyebrows.

例如：(For example): 
山的轮廓好像一道眉形。-Shān de lún kuò hǎo xiàng yí dào méi xíng 。
(The outline of the mountain resembles the shape of an eyebrow.)

このPodcastは、日本語を勉強しているみなさんに向けたPodcastです。

今日は、今年の良かったこと！について。

みなさん、お元気ですか？
今日は12/28です。
今年ももうすぐ終わりですね。

みなさんにとって、今年はどんな1年でしたか？
良かったことも、良くなかったこともあるかもしれません。

ぼくにとって、今年の良かったトピックについて上げようと思います。いろいろあるので迷いますね。

いくつかあるので、いくつかのPodcastに分けます。
今回は、1つだけ。

それは、北海道へ引っ越したことです。
このPodcastをはじめから聞いてくれている人は知っていると思いますが、ぼくは今年の6月に、北海道に引っ越してきました。妻の転勤、仕事の場所が変わることですね。仕事自体は変わりませんが、働く場所が変わりました。岡山から北海道のコーヒーショップに転勤しました。
ぼく自身は今オンラインだけで仕事をしているので、どこにでも行くことができます。だから、一緒に北海道へ来ました。

北海道は本当にいい所です。
もちろん、人によると思います。
でも自然が好きな人や、食べ物が好きな人であれば、北海道は最高な場所だと思います。さらにぼくは北海道が開拓された歴史も興味があるので、これも楽しい理由の1つですね。

オンラインで仕事をしている一方、ぼくは北海道の人と直接話す機会は少ないです。ですので、知り合いや友達を作りたいということもあって、興味があることをはじめています。
オンラインでのタイ語の勉強と、
オンラインでの北海道の観光ガイドの勉強です。

タイ語の勉強をはじめたのは、タイで日本語教師をするチャンスがあったので、それに応募したのがきっかけです。履歴書や、志望動機、自分の長所や短所、具体的にしたい活動など、書類を準備して送りましたが、結果はダメでした。その時にはじめたタイ語の勉強は、今は行く機会はないんですが、続けています。このサークルのようなものは、週に1回ですが、オンラインでみんなで一緒にタイ語を勉強します。このサークルで、1度札幌に住んでいる人たちとご飯を食べる機会がありました。それから、連絡をとっている人たちが少しだけいます。

北海道の観光ガイドの勉強も、興味があったのと、知り合いを作りたいからです。これも先日、オンラインでの交流会があり、そこで、それぞれの自己紹介をしました。ぼくがオンラインだけでコーヒー豆を販売していることを聞いて覚えてくれていた方が、今日、コーヒーを購入してくれました。

こうやって少しずつ、知り合いが友人が増えるのは嬉しいですね。


北海道に来て、食べるもの、見るもの、体感するものなどが一気に変化しましたが、大変、というよりもとても楽しい時間です。

これからも北海道のいい所を見つけたら、Podcastで話しますね！
