In questo primo episodio vi racconto come e perché sono arrivata in Giappone. Si tratta di un enorme cambiamento di vita e, chissà, magari tra gli studenti di italiano c'è qualcuno che vorrebbe intraprendere lo stesso percorso!

En el podcast de Hot Yoga Parte 2 habíamos hablado sobre la densidad ósea y el consumo de calorías.

En esta oportunidad te voy a hablar de otro aspecto muy importante de esta disciplina, que es que ayuda a disminuir los síntomas de la depresión. Según un estudio realizado en el año 2018 por Military Medicine, los veteranos que sufrían depresión notaron una mejoría general en su estado de ánimo después de practicar yoga durante seis semanas. Y de acuerdo con un estudio llevado a cabo en 2019 por la Revista de Medicina Alternativa y Complementaria (Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine), un curso de ocho semanas de Hot Yoga redujo los síntomas de la depresión en mujeres de mediana edad, incluyendo también el deterioro cognitivo.
¡Qué buena excusa para empezar a moverse! ¿no?

Y sumado a lo anterior, un beneficio adicional de esta actividad es el de regular los niveles de glucosa en sangre. Así es, las personas con diabetes tipo 2 pueden beneficiarse del yoga, porque ayuda a controlar los niveles de azúcar en sangre, de acuerdo con un estudio que tuvo lugar en el año 2013, organizado por la Revista de Terapias de Trabajo Corporal y Movimiento (Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies). Las investigaciones demostraron que incluso en un periodo corto de tiempo (8 semanas), la rutina de Hot Yoga mejoró la tolerancia a la glucosa en adultos que tendían a la obesidad.

Pero esto no termina acá. Existe otro efecto positivo de esta práctica. Es que además de lo ya mencionado, nos ayuda a gestionar el estrés. Quienes practican esta disciplina de forma regular, comprenden cómo las técnicas de respiración, la tranquilidad y el calor de la sala pueden ayudar al cuerpo y a la mente a relajarse. En un estudio realizado en 2017 y publicado por Journal of Mental Health, un programa de 16 semanas de Hot Yoga con adultos sedentarios mejoró su estado de ánimo y redujo los niveles de estrés después de una sola sesión de 90 minutos.

先日、新聞に駅の改札に「顔パス」で通過できる改札機を試験的に導入するという記事が載っていました。　改札を「顔パス」で通過するには、あらかじめ顔写真を登録しておく必要があるそうです。　毎日　同じ駅を使って　会社に行く人や学校に行く人たちにとっては、とても便利なシステムだと思います。
すでに、「顔」をパスワード替わりに使っているアプリが普通に使われています。例えば、銀行口座のアプリでは、顔認証と暗証番号の入力のいずれかでアクセスできるようになっています。　
実は、この顔認証に私は少々不便を感じています。最初に顔を登録したとき、私はばっちり化粧をして眼鏡をかけていました。　そのため、眼鏡をかけていなかったり、寝起きの化粧をしていない顔だと本人だと認識してくれないのです。　間違いなく本人なのに、化粧をしているかしていないか、眼鏡をかけているかいないかで、本人かどうかがわからないのです。これって、なんだか変ですよね。　化粧をしていない、眼鏡をかけていない顔が　本当の私の顔のはずなのに、アプリに「本人ではありません」と判断されているのですから。
きっと、これから駅の改札に導入される「顔パス」機能も、同じようなことが起こるのじゃないかと思っています。。　そう考えると、「顔パス」登録用の顔とスタイルを決めておかなくてはいけません。　そうしなければ、私が登録していない顔で通るたびに、改札が開かずに渋滞が起きてしまいますからね。
今日は新しい駅の改札についてお話しました。

Some animals have been known to use tools such as sticks, rocks and even bait to hunt for food. And humpback whales have been found using their own unique tool to hunt — bubbles.

A study published in Royal Society Open Science in August observed the hunting behaviors of more than 70 humpback whales in Stephens Passage in southeast Alaska, documenting how the whales blow bubbles to catch more prey.

Humpback whales hunt for krill — small, shrimp-like creatures that are around the same size as a paperclip, and which swim in swarms.

Whales can take in large amounts of krill in one mouthful. And to make this easier, humpback whales trap swarms of krill in "bubble nets" before feeding on them.

The whales create these "nets" by releasing air from their blowhole as they swim in circles below the surface of the water. The bubbles rise in a spiral pattern, which, from above the water's surface, looks more like artwork than a tool for hunting.

The rising bubbles create "curtains" of air around the krill that they are reluctant to swim through, although researchers aren't yet sure why this is. The whales then swim up through the "net" with an open mouth to eat the trapped krill.

The study data showed that as a whale swam in tighter circles and the "net" got smaller, the krill caught inside became, on average, more than seven times denser. This allowed the whales to catch more krill in a single mouthful.

A whale doesn't have to move very fast to create a net or eat trapped krill, allowing it to get more food without using any more energy.

While not many other animals create their own tools to catch prey like the humpback whale, there are examples of animals using other tools to hunt.

For example, chimpanzees have been observed using sticks to dig for bugs, while sea otters use rocks to open mussels. Certain species of heron have even been found to use food as bait to attract fish.
