Omschrijving
Decoding a word slowly and reading a bus board as it goes past are different skills. This class closes the gap. The method is to read things in the right order, starting with words you already know the answer to. Stage one is the fourteen district names, which let you read a bus board and turn out to be compounds of words like പുഴ (river) and നാട് (land). Stage two is the signs on every street: shop, hospital, bus stand, open, closed, for rent. Stage three is the menu board. Then three methods: read aloud, read where you can check, and read the same things again. Words and phrases in this class: തിരുവനന്തപുരം (thiruvananthapuram) – Thiruvananthapuram കോഴിക്കോട് (kozhikode) – Kozhikode (Calicut) ആലപ്പുഴ (aalappuzha) – Alappuzha കട (kada) – shop ആശുപത്രി (aashupathri) – hospital ബസ് സ്റ്റാൻഡ് (bus stand) – bus stand പ്രവേശനം (praveshanam) – entrance പുറത്തേക്ക് (purathekku) – exit, way out തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നു (thurannirikkunnu) – open അടച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു (adachirikkunnu) – closed വാടകയ്ക്ക് (vaadakaykku) – for rent ഊണ് (oonu) – the rice meal മീൻ കറി (meen kari) – fish curry In this class: • Stage one: the fourteen districts, and the words hidden inside them • Stage two: the shop and door signs that repeat on every street • Stage three: reading a Kerala menu board • Three habits: read aloud, read what you can check, read it again Quizzes below.
