Buongiorno.
Sono Simona Gentili e questo è il mio podcast “semi-professionale” per chiunque abbia voglia di ascoltare cinque minuti di interviste e parole al vento…. O libere come il vento.
Quello che state ascoltando è il mio ultimo podcast per il 2024 (duemilaventiquattro).
Ho iniziato per gioco. 
Ho continuato per divertimento e per dare sfogo alla mia creatività.
Concludo l’anno con piacere.
Il piacere di avervi incontrato, per lo più virtualmente, ma qualche volta anche di persona. Anche solo una volta.
E il piacere di fare quello che mi piace e di farlo come mi piace.
Non vi chiederò e non vi dirò qual è il bilancio dell’anno che è passato.
Ma vi dirò che la parola del 2024, secondo me, è “DISQUISIRE”.
Non sentite il suono dolce di questa parola? Solo sentendola pronunciare, non vi sentite già meglio? Quale sarà il suo significato?

Have you heard of such a thing as a mental blocker? Or psychological filtering?

Most techers never talk about this because they care too much on helping you with the language (grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing). There is nothing wrong with it but why 60-90% of language learners aren't satisfied about their spoken language performance?

Mental blockers or filtering is when we focus too much on the bad things and ignore the good things. 

This can make us only see the negative parts of a situation and not notice the positives. It's like when you only pay attention to one mean comment and ignore all the nice ones. 

This can make us feel bad about ourselves and not appreciate the good things around us.

Have you found yourself in it? We all do it, I do too in various aspects and my student Savi inspired me to help you become aware of it and deal with it and succeed as the result.

Convergent Thinking vs. Divergent Thinking: Why Planning Isn’t Always the Right Thing to Do

You’re overseeing a project and have all the pieces in place.

Your detailed timeline is mapped out. You’ve set expectations with leaders and team members. You’re prepared to keep all the deliverables organized.

Halfway through the project, a team comes to you with a suggestion—they think they’ve found a better way to handle a piece of the process.

Your stomach drops into your shoes. You’re the taskmaster. The organizer. The keeper of the schedule. This change in direction will only throw a wrench into the flawless plan you spent hours agonizing over. Even if it is a better way to go, you’re cringing at the idea of straying from your beloved system.

Sound familiar? It’s a common scenario for project managers. When you’re the one who’s solely responsible for keeping everything on track, it’s understandable that you’ll white-knuckle your tried and true processes.

But, think about this: You may be limiting the wiggle room team members need to take that project to the next level. By planning away every last inch of flexibility, you’re making it that much tougher to adapt to new information and evolving demands.

So, what do you do? It’s time for project management professionals to not only think of themselves as the keepers of plans, but also the ones responsible for pulling the very best out of teams.

To do so, they need to encourage and enable both pieces of the creative problem-solving process: divergent thinking and convergent thinking.
