blockbuster means the movie (or event0 was very popular - a real stand out.

A blockbuster is a big expensive movie with a lot of publicity, and which will likely have a huge audience. It's called a block buster because so many people will show up that it they will have to form a line that goes all the way around the block. (A block is a square of streets in a city.)
The box office is the place you go to buy tickets at a movie theatre. We often use the term figuratively to talk about the sale of movies in general. "A big hit at the box office" means the movie made a lot of money in sales.
