Hi, there Which of these sentences is correct? Where should I put “in”? And should I use “to” or “in” after “going”? “This is just an old box I use to stick/put old things IN that are going TO/IN the trash can” or “This is just an old box I use to stick/put IN old things that are going TO/IN the trash can” Thank you very much

The first sentence is correct. In this case I would use “in” as the trash is going to go IN the trash can.

If the specific object ‘trash can’ weren’t there, you could use ‘going’ to the trash... because that’s were it is headed. Tricky!
