Hi Asnaa, these are very different words.
Short functions as an adjective and typically opposite to long.
Sort can be a verb as indicated below, or you can use as "sort of", which is the same as kind of
I am sort of tired today
I am kind of tired today

Sort and short are two completely different words.
"Sort" is most commonly used as a verb, like "I need to sort these papers" meaning to categorize or put in order.
"Short" is most commonly used as an adjective, like "She is short." meaning not tall/below average.
Each has other meanings but these are the most common.
