In the last ten years, as smart phones spread rapidly, many people got into of habit of watching short videos after work. They think that doing something fun with their cute phone is a great way to reduce stress. They usually lie on the couch and just watch videos on their phones without even thinking about their children's academic development. I have heard many children complaining that their parents watched videos on their phones after work, while asking them to focus on studying. They heard their parents laughing in the living room while watching something fun which made them feel sad. They thought that their parents could do whatever they want while they must do their homework. So, if parents are not self-disciplined, it can also be hard for their children to be able to focus on something, especially for their academic development. I have also seen a father who started to spend time reading books beside his daughter after work every day and his daughter showed high academic performances after.
