When I was a kid , I used a VHS, this was great for recording movies and tv shows that you wanted to rewatch. But sometimes the VHS would break and you couldn't use it anymore.

When I was a kid , I used a VHS. It was great for recording movies and TV shows that you wanted to rewatch, but sometimes the VHS would break and you couldn't use it anymore.
Nice work! Although you can technically start a sentence with "but", you should probably do so only for dramatic effect. It's more common to either use "but" as a conjunction. Another option: "However, sometimes the VHS would break and you couldn't use it anymore."
