A study shows that a great percentage of language learners give up after a few months of studying a language. This is something I have observed as a teacher for 13 years. Like relationships, our excitement in learning drops and sometimes levels stay the same for years. Roughly less that 10 % continue to learn until they reach fluency in the language they are learning. It takes consistency, commitment and discipline to be able to study a language for years or even decades.
