In your example, the word 'in' is not correct. Here are some examples for American English that I hope are helpful:
During the Christmas holiday, it usually snows.
During the New Years holiday, most people stay up late to celebrate.
Do you have to work on holidays or does your boss give you those days off?
Even on major holidays, I still have to work a full shift.
Happy Holidays! (means 'merry Christmas and happy new year')
